We help improve quality of life through literacy.

The Literacy Council of Burlington is an incorporated, non-profit, charitable organization offering individual tutoring or small group classes to adults over the age of 19 in reading, writing, math and computer literacy.

Our Read for Life Programme is FREE, confidential and flexible, allowing adults with other commitments (work, family) to learn with a one-to-one tutor or attend small group classes.

Our tutors are trained at 10-hour workshops to help their students work towards their goals which could be related to employment, training and further education, or independence.

Our students are assessed, receive help with determining their goals and are provided with a learning plan to help them achieve those real-life goals.

We are funded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities but rely on community support to offer a full, year-round programme, essential for students to maintain progress.

We are a member of the Peel-Halton-Dufferin Adult Learning NetworkEmployment Ontario and Laubach Literacy of Ontario
