You can help build literacy in Burlington!

If you are interested in helping to make Burlington a more literate and productive community, consider being a member of our Board of Directors. The nomination process will start in the May 2012. The Board is interested in volunteers from all professions and walks-of-life.

Volunteering - Tutor

Make a difference in someone's life! No previous teaching experience is required, just some free time, enthusiasm and a desire to help someone improve their quality of life.

 

Next steps

Call the office to let us know you are interested in volunteering

Attend an Information Session (see Events page for next date)

Attend a 2-day 10-hour Tutor Training Session (see Events page) and follow-up session.

Apply for a police check by visiting the Southampton Boulevard Police Station.

After attending all the training sessions, you will be on the waiting list for a student who suits your schedule. You can determine what day(s) and time(s) you are available. Once matched with a student, you will receive free tutoring material and resources and a copy of your student’s individual learning plan. Lessons usually take place in the Council offices.
